Choose the Best System for Your Needs
CaptiveAire offers two fire suppression systems with electronic Firestat detection.
CORE Fire Protection
Solid Fuel ApprovedWater-based fire suppression for commercial kitchens
- 360° Firestat electronic detection (NOT fusible links)
- Two Firestat ratings: 360°F (gas/electric) or 600°F (solid fuel)
- Microprocessor-based real-time monitoring with fault codes
- Integrated self-cleaning — daily wash-down of duct and plenum
- Total flood coverage with overlapping nozzle placement
- Unlimited water supply — prevents re-flashing
- Battery backup ensures safety during power outages
- Heat recovery coil option for energy savings
- Above-equipment mounting
Solid Fuel Recommendation: CORE Fire Protection is our only recommended fire suppression system for solid fuel applications (wood, charcoal, smokers), due to the complexities and inherent risks of live fire cooking. Requires 600°F Firestat.
ETL Listed to UL Standard 300 and ULC/ORD-C1254.6 | NFPA 96 & NFPA 17A Compliant
TANK Fire Suppression
Gas/Electric OnlyElectronic detection with wet chemical tank-based suppression
- 360° Firestat electronic detection (NOT fusible links)
- 360°F Firestat rating for gas/electric cooking
- Microprocessor-based real-time monitoring with fault codes
- 24/7 system pressure monitoring
- Independent supervised loops with redundancy and fault detection
- MAD Device (Mechanical Activation Device) for manual activation
- Battery backup for detection and suppression during power outages
- Simplified overlapping nozzle coverage
- Factory pre-piped system with optional field hookup
- Wall-mount configuration
Note: TANK systems are designed for gas and electric cooking equipment only. Not approved for solid fuel applications.
UL and ETL Listed to UL 300 | NFPA 96 & NFPA 17A Compliant
Firestat Temperature Ratings
CaptiveAire offers two Firestat temperature ratings to match your cooking application.
Standard Rating
Gas & Electric Cooking
Standard rating for conventional gas and electric cooking equipment including fryers, grills, ovens, and ranges. Operating temperatures typically stay well below 360°F during normal use.
Solid Fuel Rating
Wood, Charcoal & Smokers
Higher rating for solid fuel applications where normal operating temperatures exceed 360°F. Required for wood-fired ovens, charcoal grills, and smokers to prevent false activations.
Correct Firestat Rating is Critical
Using the wrong Firestat rating can result in either false activations (360°F on solid fuel) or delayed response in an emergency (600°F on gas/electric). During inspection, verify the installed Firestat rating matches the cooking application.

Inspection & Maintenance
Required inspection intervals for CaptiveAire fire suppression systems per NFPA 17A and NFPA 96.
| Monthly | Visual inspection: system armed, no visible damage, pressure gauges in normal range |
| Semi-Annual | Professional inspection per NFPA 17A: Firestat sensors, nozzle alignment, control panel, battery backup |
| Annual | Complete system inspection: Firestat temperature rating correct for application (360°F gas/electric or 600°F solid fuel), nozzle coverage, agent levels, documentation |
| As Needed | After system activation: Full inspection, recharge, and reset by certified technician |
